Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary

  • Degree Qualified (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Accountant (ACA or ACCA)
  • Able to demonstrate a successful career including significant previous experience as a Chief Financial Officer or Finance Director
  • Experience of, or able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of the role of a Company Secretary
  • First class all round commercial skills

  • Able to work as part of a Senior team in an organisation comprising of a very diverse multi-skilled team of specialists including engineers and scientists

  • Experience of financial projection modelling of current and potential markets, including pricing points, margins, break evens, competitor analysis; on many occasions this will need to be done where very little or even no previous market information exists
  • Practically minded, a solutions provider and not a problem highlighter

Preference will be given to any candidates who have experience of :-

  • Operating in a listed company environment with a strong understanding of the implications of being in such an environment
  • Being involved with grant funding, both in the capacity of undertaking applications for grant funding and for keeping abreast of what funding is actually available
  • Operating in the renewable energy or clean fuel sector

Lab Technician

Location: Sheffield
Salary: £18,000

ITM’s electrolyser and fuel cell technologies have the potential to become the cornerstones of a future hydrogen economy based on ‘green’ hydrogen. Our hydrogen systems are able to convert renewable energy to a clean fuel that can be indefinitely stored for use in transport, residential and industrial applications.

ITM, the UK’s largest electrolyser company, is looking for a graduate chemist to join the team. The role which is based in Sheffield will involve working in a production laboratory environment, either independently or as part of a small team. The position will involve operating and maintaining automated laboratory equipment, working to standard procedures to maintain high quality and through-put, recording and analysing data, method development work, maintaining records to ISO 9001 (Quality Standard), and ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced.

Qualifications: The candidate must hold a degree qualification in Chemistry (or similar science).

Desirable Skills: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, good accuracy and attention to detail, good practical and technical skills, the ability to plan own workload, awareness of health and safety issues, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Automation and Controls Engineer

Location: Sheffield.
Salary: Dependant on experience.

ITM Power is a company that specializes in electrolysers, and hydrogen fuel cell products. An increased focus on large-scale containerised hydrogen generators has resulted in the requirement for an additional Automation and Controls engineer. In this exciting and fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will join a small in-house control systems group working under the Control Systems Co-ordinator, and will be responsible for the development and delivery of R&D automation solutions as well as control systems for mega-watt scale electrolysers.

This is a full time position based in Sheffield which involves designing and developing new PLC-based automation control solutions, as well as optimising existing automation technologies, for process plant equipment. The role will also involve reviewing customer requirements, creating functional design specifications and maintaining technical files. The successful candidate will need to rapidly develop a firm understanding of system design and safety concepts, and be able to debug, troubleshoot and offer general technical support for ITM electrolyser systems. This position will involve some work away from home for a few weeks per project, to be present onsite for commissioning activities.

Qualifications and experience: The candidate must be educated to degree standard in a related engineering or science discipline and have a minimum of 2 years of industrial experience in the design and programming of Siemens S7-300 and 1200 platforms. Work experience with functional safety (IEC 61511) and safety integrated systems such as safety PLC’s and safety relays would be desirable. Experience with other non-Siemens PLC hardware would be beneficial, but is not a requirement. The candidate must also have a good understanding of SCADA systems – particularly Siemens WinCC flexible/Advanced, and have experience in commissioning PLC-controlled machines and processes, including fault finding. The successful candidate must be willing to occasionally travel within the UK and overseas. A ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to get involved with all aspects of the manufacturing process is a must. A full UK driving licence would also be necessary.

Assembly Technician

ITM is looking for an Assembly Technician to join the team. For the role which is based in Sheffield you will be required to work with other assembly technicians and the development team to assemble and test electrolyser products and components to engineering drawings and ISO accredited quality assurance procedures. The role will report to the Production Manager.

This multi-skilled assembly role covers both mechanical and electrical skills. Knowledge of pressurised systems and ISO accredited systems will be an advantage. Training will be given in Company specific procedures. The successful candidate will be able to work without supervision but be able to seek support and advice when necessary. Good employment references and relevant qualifications are essential, and experience working in an engineering environment will be advantageous.

Senior Field Engineer & Field Engineer

ITM’s electrolyser and fuel cell technologies have the potential to become the cornerstones of a future hydrogen economy based on ‘green’ hydrogen. Our hydrogen systems are able to convert renewable energy to a clean fuel that can be indefinitely stored for use in transport, residential and industrial applications.

Due to a significant increase in the number of contracts awarded to ITM, we are looking for a Field Engineer and a Senior Field Engineer to strengthen our plant commissioning team. Both of these challenging roles will require a well-rounded engineer with experience and good understanding of mechanical, electrical and control systems. The key deliverables will include all aspects related to the assembly, testing, and commissioning of electrolyser systems. Both roles are expected to involve frequent travel to customer sites for extended periods of time; they will lead a commissioning team (comprising both internal and external personnel) on global assignments to achieve successful completion of product commissioning, product certification tests and product acceptance test.

Both engineering roles will involve planning and organising logistics, systems, equipment and personnel for temporary and permanent system installations and producing high quality reports of field trials/system installations. The role will also involve delivering client satisfaction, through technical training on the use of the system to end users and maintainers, and also resolving appointed client problems and queries. The positions will also involve liaising with product development teams to provide customer and operational feedback on software features, functionality and suggested improvements. This role is performed within the bounds of tight Health & Safety practices expected within the Hydrogen Community, therefore developing and up keeping the system documentation such as manuals, procedures, guides, and system specifications will also be necessary.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Mechanical / Electrical HNC/HND or apprenticeship required
  • Experience of maintenance schedules and system inspection
  • Experience of sensor inspection, checking, and calibration is of benefit
  • Experience of PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, or high pressure gas systems is of benefit
  • 16th/17th edition or similar electrical training is of benefit
  • Experience of organising work schedules for small teams is of benefit
  • Experience of working at heights and the associated regulations is of benefit

The successful candidate requires an engineering or similar background, with significant practical experience of a range of systems. The candidate needs to be a practical minded problem solver with a proven ability to work individually, and also with a diverse group of colleagues and an ability to cope with being face of the company, presenting a professional front. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of electrical wiring systems, pressure systems, control systems and calibration systems. Being able to fault-find and diagnose problems as well as effect repairs in a timely manner, sometimes working to tight time constraints will be of significant benefit to the successful candidate.

The ideal candidate will have experience of dealing with technical documentation such equipment lists, instrument, calibration, and alarm lists, and maintenance schedules, as well as sourcing additional information from suppliers or colleagues to support fault finding and diagnosis actions.
