Dr Graham Cooley
Chief Executive Officer
Graham joined ITM Power as CEO in 2009. Before that Graham was Business Development Manager in National Power plc and spent 11 years in the power industry developing energy storage and generation technologies.
Before joining ITM Power Graham was CEO of Sensortec Ltd, founding CEO of Metalysis Ltd, a spin out of Cambridge University and founding CEO of Antenova Ltd.
Dr Simon Bourne
Chief Technology Officer
Simon joined ITM in 2002 as a Technical Manager and has been one of the leading scientists involved in the development of ITM’s suite of patented membrane materials.
Before joining ITM Simon was a project engineer with Sonatest Plc and a researcher with the Ministry of Defence.
Simon has a BSc Hons in Materials Science from UMIST and a PhD from Cranfield University.
Barry Cunliffe FCA
CFO & Company Secretary
Barry joined ITM on 2 February 2010 as Chief Financial Officer.
Before joining Barry was the Group Finance Director for the metals group Sogepar and completed several assignments in the cleantech sector as a consultant.
Barry spent six years in engineering and manufacturing with Kvaerner Plc and Insituform Technologies Inc. before joining the Sogepar Group.

Prof Roger Putnam CBE
Non-Executive Chairman
Roger Putnam is a former Chairman of Ford of Britain, ex-President of the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders and a member of the Government’s Energy Review Partnership and Automotive Innovation and Growth Team.
The Partnership will report to the Chancellor on the country’s future energy strategy and the AIGT to the Prime Minister on alternative fuels and transport.
Peter Hargreaves
Non-Executive Director
Peter joined the board of ITM in February 2004 as a Non-Executive Director.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant he was employed by KPMG, Unisys and Whitbread and Company Limited.
In 1981 he founded the national investment brokerage Hargreaves Lansdown Plc where he remains an Executive Director.
Lord Roger Freeman
Non-Executive Director
Lord Freeman is a member of the House of Lords and is currently Chairman of Thales Holdings (UK) Plc and a Non-Executive Director of Thales S.A.; Chairman of the Advisory Board of PricewaterhouseCoopers (UK) and a consultant to RP&C International.

Prof Marcus Newborough
Development Director
Marcus Newborough is Head of Passive Electrolyser Systems and Business Development at ITM.
Previously he was the Royal Academy of Engineering Research Professor in Energy and Environmental Engineering at Heriot-Watt University.
Marcus has 25 years research experience in energy systems.
Phil Doran
MD, ITM Power GmbH Germany
Phil joined ITM in July 2011 as Managing Director of ITM Power GmbH Germany.
Phil is a former investment banker and economist, who spent most of his banking career at UBS in Frankfurt, where he was Global Head of H2&FC.
He is a founding member of Fuel Cells Europe.
Dr Rachel Smith
Operations Manager
Rachel has worked for ITM since its incorporation in 2002. Starting as a research scientist Rachel has a solid background in ITM materials and their use in electrochemical cells.
She has worked on and managed various externally funded projects and now acts as the funding co-ordinator for ITM’s activities. Rachel also manages ITM’s patent and trademark portfolio.
Stephen Jones
Business Development Manager
Steve is ITM’s Business Development Manager and has been working for ITM since 2005. Having worked within core research, product testing and product development Steve has been involved in developing ITM’s suite of patented membrane materials and manufacturing processes and has an excellent understanding of all aspects of ITM’s technology.
Steve has managed a number of successful projects for ITM.
Charles Purkess
Marketing and PR Manager
Charles joined ITM in November 2008, as Marketing and PR officer to raise the profile of ITM Power and its technology, highlighting its application for decarbonising transport and the built environment, to policy makers, industry and the media.
Prior to joining Charles spent 12 years in environmental consultancy specialising in environmental liability associated with hydrocarbons for the insurance, transport and fuel sectors.
Rebecca Markillie
Marketing, Comms & PA to CEO
Rebecca joined ITM in 2007 and coordinates all of the companies communication and marketing activities. Having now organised over 150 company events alongside pushing company news online, she has extensive experience of ensuring maximum exposure for the company, with ITM Power now being a well-recognised company worldwide.
Geoff Budd
Agent for Canada and the USA
Geoff has spent the last 13 years in various commercial roles with Ballard Power Systems and most recently he was the Business Development Director in Europe. Geoff has a BSc from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand where he majored in Industrial and International Marketing.
Lucas Bertrand
French Representative
Lucas has over 20 years’ experience in the portable energy and hydrogen power industry, most recently as BDM with Helion Hydrogen Power, part of the Areva Group. Before that, Lucas spent 11 years with Duracell in OEM Business Development, Sales and Marketing roles. Lucas holds a MBA from the ESSEC and speaks French, English, Spanish and Dutch.
