Island Systems
Island energy systems are an early adoption market, because island systems have the greatest difficulty in balancing supply and demand.
Islands often have very high fuel prices, difficult fuel logistics and security of supply issues. However, many also have good indigenous renewable resources which can be integrated into the grid provided that adequate energy storage facilities are deployed in parallel.
Electrolysers provide controllable loads for absorbing excess renewable energy and utilising it for primary power or for vehicle refuelling. Electrolysers can therefore transform islands from being heavily dependent on foreign oil to having a high degree of energy security and hence economic security.
