ITM has designed hydrogen systems technology for integration in the built environment, to provide energy security and zero-carbon solutions for early adopters.

There are four primary configurations intended for application in the residential sector:

Hydrogen heat, power and cooking systems
Back-up heat-and-power systems for rural and island communities
Autonomous off-grid renewable heat-and-power systems for remote regions
Home refuellers for hydrogen cars

Each is based on a variant of ITM's self-pressurising electrolyser technology and involves on-site gaseous hydrogen storage and utilisation (either by combustion or a fuel cell). Where the intention is to achieve a zero-carbon solution, careful system sizing and the utilisation of 'green' electricity is essential.
