A common problem with renewable technologies is their sporadic and often unpredictable production of power. In addition, human nature dictates that we are free to demand power when we please; this rarely coincides with the production of energy from renewable technologies.
As the use of Photovoltaic Solar Panels, Wind Turbines, and Micro-hydro stations becomes more widespread, so does the requirement to store energy that isn't used immediately. The electrolysis of water to form hydrogen offers a unique means of energy storage; storing excess power as a compressed gas indefinitely, so that it may be used when it is required.
