Residential CHP

Balancing supply and demand for both power and heat is a significant challenge.

Residential CHP

Deriving power and heat when needed from a store of hydrogen generated by electrolysis via on-site photovoltaic power sources, offers a distinctive pathway for achieving zero-carbon homes.

The role of the electrolyser is to capture the renewable power whenever available and direct it in the form of hydrogen to a compressed gas or hydride store. The heat demand profile can be met via a boiler and by heat recovery from the fuel cell; the power demand  profile can be satisfied by a hybrid system comprising a fuel cell and battery.
