The official opening of BIG HIT took place in Kirkwall, the Orkney Islands, bringing together communities, industry, and politicians who are all working together to deploy one of Europe’s leading hydrogen energy systems. This will enable more renewable energy to be produced and used locally in the Orkney Islands of Scotland and also support similar deployments more widely.

ITM Power, along with Shell opens the first ‘under the canopy’ in the UK – at Beaconsfield Services on the M40. This new hydrogen refuelling station, situated at one of the busiest service stations in the UK, will be fully owned and operated by ITM Power.

ITM Power is pleased to announce that a consortium including ITM Power, Shell, Toyota, Honda and Hyundai has won £8.8 million in funding from the Department for Transport “DfT” to improve access to an expanded network of hydrogen refuelling stations to support the continued roll out of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) in the UK.
